Finding out you're expecting a baby is the best news of all. Well, second to hearing the daddy-to-be propose in the first place. The wedding went off beautifully, the honeymoon was magical, you are totally committed to each other. Hearing that your love has borne fruit is the icing on the cake. For first time expectant mothers, preparing for the baby can be almost overwhelming. The baby will need so much! -bedding and clothes and bottles and diapers and even furniture. Writing a list is a good start. Keep it handy and write down the items baby will need as they come to mind. Put down the essentials that will be needed in the first weeks after birth, and then other items in terms of their priority. Working down the list, you can buy things a bit at a time. Babies don't need a great many things at first. Once you're satisfied that you could manage just fine even if the baby should arrive tomorrow, it will take the pressure off , so you can take your time and enjoy preparing for the new arrival. Barring that, there is another way to take the pressure off and have everything ready in one fell swoop, headache free! The solution is to hold a baby shower party! The only headache mom-to-be would have is the menu she would have to prepare on that day which beats shopping for months!
Now the task of shopping for baby is passed on to your guests. All the happy aunties-to-be will be thrilled to buy a present for baby, and it's a wonderful reason for a party. But how do you plan a baby shower? Well a good idea is to have a theme and let that guide the flow of the baby shower. You might want to base your theme on colour. If you already know the gender of the baby you could have a blue party for a boy for instance, and a pink one for a girl. You might want to opt for a sleepy bye party. Invite everyone to come in their pajamas and limit the shower items to sleepware, bedding or things for the baby's room. How about a character-themed baby shower such as the Sesame Street, Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory or the Looney Tunes? It could also be a time-of-the-day baby shower whereby each guest is asked to bring something the baby would need or use during that time of day.
From www.best-baby-gift-guide.com, you will find suggestions for wonderful baby shower gifts such as, a baby gift basket, a layette gift set, essential baby equipment, delicate baby linen, a baby massage set, or a baby gift certificate. Each gift idea is unique. For the baby gift basket, some ideas they suggest are to either create your own baby gift basket or go for the classical clothing baby gift basket, which is sure to be a hit. How about monogrammed baby gift baskets, fun baby basket, mother and baby basket, gift basket for twins, or a pampering baby gift basket. They also have different suggestions for baby girls or baby boys. For complete descriptions of each item, just visit their website and read on to find fantastic baby gift ideas.
Once the baby shower is over, you'll be able to cross many things off your list. For those items still on your list, it'll be a snap to shop for them before baby arrives.
Here's a quick run through of the steps to take for a succesful baby shower: Hold the shower four to six weeks before the expected birth date. Decide on a theme, write down the guest list, set the mood and size of the baby shower, plan the games and the menu, make or purchase baby shower party favors, and finally, set the time and location, if it will not be held at your home. Remember, baby showers are a fun way to give every one a chance to welcome the baby that will soon arrive. |
