Antarctica is the highest of the continents at a height of 7380 feet. Antarctica is surprisingly very dry on top of its freezing weather. Deserts and this area receive just about the same amount of rain in a year. But the rate of snowfall has been increasing lately which is in large part explained by the phenomenon of climate change. Scientific professionals also believe that climate change is behind the recent breaks in the arctic continent that have led to their disappearance with two occurring five years apart in 1995 and 2000. Different whales and penguins along with seals count among the abundant wildlife in Antarctica. Antarctica has also given a home to hulking squids. Spring is when the food of humpbacks and orcas is most abundant so tourists are likely to get a chance to see some during this season. Penguin chicks are hatched around this time too. Large web footed birds like Albatrosses usually fly overhead while Weddell and Leopard seals lounge about on the cold shore.
