Although crib bumpers are not particularly useful and many parents eschew them altogether, you are still likely to end up with one if you purchase or are given a baby bedding set. While the crib bumper will protect your child from banging into the end of the crib or from some drafts, it will present a risk of suffocation or entrapment.
If a baby boy is expected, the nursery should be decorated with baby boy bedding. Avoid anything in the nursery that is too cutesy because you may regret it by the time your child is two and then you need to redecorate it all again.
While many parents buy other bedding materials, the bare minimum that you have to have is a firm mattress, crib sheet, and some warm pajamas for your infant.
