You should avoid mixing more compound than you’ll be able to apply within 20 minutes. Depending on the bonding agent you are using if it is not water based make sure that you moisten your surface before applying the compound. You need to go over the instructions before using a bonding compound.
It is a good idea to add reinforced steel into a deep hole. This aids in maintaining proper positioning of the patch. The steel pieces should be protected at the minimum of 1/2 an inch with the patch. The job should be finidhed off once you are done. Its a good idea to let the concrete patch stiffen before you finish it. Cover this spot with some plastic and use something heavy to hold it down for at least three days. Patching compound must not dry very quickly hence it is great to prevent hot and sunny days to make repairs. Repairs to concrete are best made in cloudy and damp weather.
