Your toddler is becoming more independent every day. One of the things you are noticing is their reaction when they go to their nursery. They may express their dislike in the room or they may refuse to sleep in the crib any longer. If this is the case, making your toddler sleep in their crib may result in them climbing out which may cause him or her injuries.

You will need to find a way to satisfy your child's need to grow and develop in a safe way. In order to do that you will need to turn their crib into a toddler bed or invest in a toddler bed. Most toddler beds should come with safety rails, but if they don't you will need to purchase them to make your toddler safe during the night. Usually at the age they start to ask you for a toddler bed they are ready and mentally prepared for the change. They still like the security of the safety rails but now they are in control of getting in and out of their own bed. This change in independence may make you fearful but they will adjust quicker than you think.

What flooring should your child's room have. There are many options available but one to investigate is rubber floors they are water, mold and bacteria-resistant.

Boys Rooms

To decorate a room for your son, try using the brown, red or blue colors. These colors make them feel comfortable and warm. They will feel safe and secure if you use these colors to make them feel better when they are all alone at night. You may want to choose one color for the wall and decorate the windows, bedspread and pillows with the other colors.

Let your child help you decide on the colors. If you give them choices they feel more comfortable when they are in their room by themselves. You can add a television or a radio for a little soft sound as they try to go to sleep at night or during their nap. If they have a railroad or car track, put this around their bed or in a corner of their room so that they can see the train or cars fly by on the track.

Girls Rooms

When you decorate a room for your little girl you want to make it special and unique. The traditional colors of pink and white may not be acceptable for your little girls so be prepared for a different color theme that she wants to use. Great colors to use for your little girls' room is yellow, orange, lavender, green or pink. You may want to use the main colors for carpet, bedspread and curtains. Then you can accent the main color with pillows and pictures. You may want to paint the furniture in her room or leave it natural. Add a little corner in the room to put a certain color rug on the wood floor for her to dance or perform in. She may like to sing or dance and this will be encouraging both. You may want to set a small stereo in that corner as well. Your little girl will feel independent and happy as she adapts to her new way of living.

Kids adjust easy to almost any change. If you are having a hard time deciding if they are ready for a toddler room or not, remember that kids will let you know when they are. They may cry when you put them in their room or when you put them in their cribs. They may try to climb out of their cribs, ask to sleep with your or prefer sleeping on the sofa or another spot in their house to avoid staying in their room. When you start seeing these early signs you may want to prepare to upgrade their room to a toddler room.
